The snowman
At a party Stacy and I hosted in 2005, a mystery snowman arrived. The snowman refused to talk or reveal his identity. We didn’t know that it was Jan until he left and later returned to the party after being roughed up in a local pub—in which he attempted to maintain his snowman persona.
On the shortness of life
During a text exchange a couple of years ago, Jan sent this image from an essay he was reading, with the companion island rum and ice, by the Roman Stoic philosopher, Seneca the Younger, around 49 AD. The meaning of the essay according to Wkpdia is, “Time is best used by living in the present moment in pursuit of the intentional, purposeful life.” This was Jan!
